In today’s digital world, access to technology is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. The National Device Bank is dedicated to bridging the digital divide by providing refurbished laptops, mobile phones, and tablets to individuals and communities who need them most.
Distributed over 120,000 devices to individuals across Australia
Repurposing nearly 400 tonnes of electronic waste, contributing to environmental sustainability
6000 community organisations Australia-wide
Supporting 2 million people with free digital skills
As the world becomes increasingly reliant on technology, individuals without the means to participate in the digital world are being left behind. Limited access to devices and connectivity creates significant barriers to education, employment opportunities, and essential services, deepening existing inequalities and affecting long-term outcomes.
We collect, refurbish, and distribute pre-owned devices to support digital inclusion across Australia. By working with businesses, government agencies, and community organisations, we:
Equipping individuals with the technology they need to learn, work, and stay connected.
Giving devices a second life, reducing e-waste, and contributing to a circular economy.
Securely refurbishing and wiping all donated devices to protect data privacy.
Providing digital coaching and literacy to bridge all aspects of the digital divide.
The National Device Bank was established by WorkVentures, Good360 Australia, and Good Things Australia to address the urgent need for digital connectivity across the country. United by our shared mission, we are combining our unique strengths to maximise our impact and tackle digital exclusion at scale.
The National Device Bank aims to ensure that every Australian has access to the technology they need to fully participate in society. By refurbishing donated devices, we provide essential tools to those who are digitally excluded, fostering social inclusion and equal opportunity.
We partner with private and public sector organisations to collect pre-owned devices, including laptops, mobile phones, and tablets.
Donated devices undergo a rigorous refurbishment process, including secure data erasure and necessary repairs, to ensure they are ready for use.
Refurbished devices are distributed through WorkVentures, Good360 and Good Things Australia’s network of community organisations, ensuring they reach individuals who need them most.

Your financial contribution helps power the National Device Bank. While donated devices are essential, funding is critical to professionally refurbish and securely sanitise each device, install productivity and cybersecurity software, and provide digital coaching and support to recipients. Donations also help sustain and scale the model, enabling us to reach more digitally excluded Australians with the tools they need to learn, work, and stay connected.
In addition to a device, the individuals you support will also be referred to an organisation in their local community who can provide free digital skills training and education to increase their digital literacy. They will also have access to technical support to help set up and use their device.

The National Device Bank unites three leading organisations, WorkVentures, Good Things Australia and Good360 Australia to tackle digital inclusion across Australia.
The National Device Bank operates as one of Australia’s most innovative social enterprises, collecting donated technology from companies and government agencies, professionally refurbishing it, and distributing it free of charge to communities in need. Our digital donation program transforms quality devices that would otherwise become e-waste into valuable tools for education, employment, and connection. By repurposing quality devices we not only give individuals the digital tools and access to skills they need to participate in today’s world, but also help create a more sustainable, circular economy. The National Device Banks works to bridge the digital divide and ensure no Australian is left behind.
All registered not-for-profits are eligible to apply for a device. Refurbished devices are distributed through our network of accredited NFPs and community organisations to reach individuals who need them most. This includes communities supporting students, job seekers, First Nations Peoples, women, people with disability, seniors and other underserved communities facing higher levels of digital exclusion. The National Device Bank partners with established non-profit groups across Australia to ensure devices reach those who will benefit most. These digital inclusion initiatives help create pathways to education, employment, and essential services for Australian communities currently excluded from digital society.
We primarily provide laptops, which offer versatility for students and job-seekers, along with some tablets and desktop systems. Our standard free laptops for students feature Intel Core i5 (6th generation or higher), 8GB+ RAM, 128GB+ SSD storage, WiFi capability, built-in webcam and microphone, and a minimum 13.3 inch screen. These specifications ensure refurbished computers for low-income families can run current software smoothly. Our inventory varies based on corporate donations, but we maintain consistent quality standards. If your organisation has specific device requirements, please mention these in your application so we can match appropriate technology to your community’s actual needs.
We occasionally set limits when supply is constrained, to ensure a wide range of people can access devices. Tell us how many free laptops your student programs or community initiatives require, and we’ll collaborate based on current availability. For larger requests, we may fulfil needs progressively to ensure fair distribution across our network. We consider factors such as community size, existing resources, and potential impact when allocating devices. Our commitment is to support as many community groups in Australia as possible while ensuring each distribution creates meaningful change. We’ve successfully supported partners ranging from small local initiatives to large-scale programs.
Whether you are making a donation or in need of accessing a device, our friendly team will be available to answer any questions that you may have. You can contact us through the expression of interest form on our contact page. A team member will be in touch to discuss the process for donations and community requests.
We distribute devices year-round and deliver it to those who need it most. Our community organisations and not-for-profit partners help us identify where donated devices will make the biggest difference, whether that’s students needing laptops for school or seniors connecting with family online. This approach means that we can respond to local community needs as they arise. Our network of community groups helps identify where devices will make the biggest difference, ensuring that each laptop or tablet finds its way to people who will benefit most from digital inclusion.
